Why is Attack of the Petscii Robots not on the Master System?

Attack of the Petscii Robots is a game from the 8-Bit-Guy released in September of 2020. Since that time it’s been ported to many consoles and retro computers with many others in the works. One thing I have to ask though, why is there no Master System port? Why is a version not being worked on for the Sega Master System?

As you can see here there are 16 versions of the game complete with 3 others in the works. We can see Sega’s 16-bit console listed here, but no mention of the Master System, SG-1000 or Game Gear. What makes this more interesting is that we can see the Atari 7800 version has a port as does the Nintendo NES(WIP). There were three consoles that made up the 3rd generation of video game consoles and it was the NES, Atari 7800 and the Master System, but alas no port for our favorite 8-bit from Sega.

What I find interesting about this is that the Master System has plenty of love, we have sites dedicated to it like smspower.org and of course this one. The Master System has sold more units than the Atari 7800 as well, which makes it all the more interesting we have seen a port come to that console before ours. The Master System is also the most capable of the 3rd generation consoles released.

The 8-Bit-Guy has mentioned that he’s willing to give the source code to developers willing to work on different ports for the game. My hope is that we can see a developer rise up to the challenge of bringing Attack of the Petscii Robots to the Master System. I feel like we deserve a port of our own.
