For Both of Us
I left for stars on distant shore,
Not knowing what life held in store.
A call too late, a breath too thin,
A battle fought but too hard to win.
You smiled through pain I couldn’t feel,
While I chased dreams, just trying to heal.
A thousand miles, a chasm wide,
Not there to dry the tears you cried.
The forest whispers soft your name,
The rivers flow, but not the same.
The sky turns gray, then bursts in blue,
As if the whole world misses you.
We shared a past none else could know,
The fights, the games, the delayed growth.
The only one who truly knew
The map I came from, every hue.
My mirror, shadow, laughter’s spark,
My guiding flame when nights grew dark.
You were my other half, my thread.
Now all that’s left are tears I shed.
How do I live, or even try,
When you’re not here to hear me cry,
To swap a joke, to seek your grace?
The world’s grown dim without your face.
I scream at stars, at fate, at time,
For taking you in your young prime.
If I had stayed, would it have changed?
Could all of this have been exchanged?
Yet in the breeze I feel you near,
A whispered “Go,” so soft and clear.
Among the trees, the sun, the sea
You speak through every part of me.
So I will climb the hills you dreamed,
And dance where wildflowers once gleamed.
I'll laugh for you, I'll cry, I'll run
And chase the gold of every sun.
Though you are gone, I’ll hold you tight,
And live for both with all my might.
Your voice, my compass; love, my guide -
Forever walking side by side.
