Alkemye Update
January 5, 2025
What on earth is Alkemye?
I'm glad you asked! Alkemye (an old spelling of Alchemy) is my attempt to make sense of the world, and hopefully communicate what I've learned to others. The word 'essay' is defined as 'to try' and I try through my essays. I have to imagine that those essays are the most important part of Alkemye, but that certainly isn't all that there is of value. At least to my mind.
Also of great value are the comments and discussions that follow most of those essays. Discussions that allow me to take my own thoughts much further than I would be able to do otherwise.
Alkemye is also a book club, and an ongoing philosophical discussion. Perhaps the best way of looking at it is as a Salon of sorts, but a digital Salon, hosted virtually instead of within a Parisian mansion.
It is a single project, but Alkemye is broken up into discrete parts. Crafted in that way so that readers and participants can take what they want from it easily, while leaving that which does not interest them behind.
This page is one of those parts. A really small part, but I thought it important to have a place where I can keep those who are interested informed about changes to the Alkemye project across all of its sections.
Who on earth are you?
I don't know how important it is in the scheme of things, but I'll tell you just briefly about myself.
I've been a government guy. I've served on the City Council, and as Mayor of my hometown. I spent a couple of decades working for my State Legislature. Now, I lobby for small municipalities. It's rewarding work that serves to keep me connected to events throughout my corner of the world.
I've explored what I think of as the occult realm for a very long time. I'm heavily involved with Freemasonry, and have served as Grand Master. I'm also really into Tarot, and am a Rosicrucian. I consider myself a spiritual Alchemist.
Mainly though, in this January of 2025, I consider myself a writer. It's my vocation and my avocation. All of that writing, put together, is Alkemye. Perhaps it will help us to transform ourselves, to craft the philosophers stone, and improve the world around us, just a touch.

The Book Club and The Daily Pike have new discussions virtually every day, and my Social Media is fairly active.
