What happened in August 2023

I was in a mountain cabin kitchen, having a back and forth with a guy on Threads about Ben Shapiro's failed TV script and the fakeness of LA. He was using Google Keyboard voice dictation and complained about its errors. I told him to install the ChatGPT app, speak into it, then copy/paste. I knew this app had the superior OpenAI Whisper model built in. He seemed grateful, but we disappeared from each other's feeds.

I was in a Ventura, CA hotel room, gone completely mad. Sitting at the table where my backpack contents spilled out. It was 4am and my phone was on a small tripod. I spoke of my stravaging to ChatGPT, then copied it to a Google Doc. Unsure if I published that part on Substack.

I screen recorded my weeks of manic posts from the Stories archive, sequenced it in Premiere, exported a big mp3, then transcribed it all with Whisper on PC. It added up to 80 pages for a book. I hired GPT-4 as my editor. Sent it my old blogs and 80 more private pages from 2019, to collate my first autobiography.

When I returned to consensus reality, I had perspective to shelve it all. I was running in circles via train, transit, trail, Lyft, urban rucksacking, and addiction to 2 phones. I slept on the streets one night for no reason. $150 of items were stolen from my bag as I snoozed on wet grass. I often ponder about that time. What was fact, what was fiction, if I was a cyberpunk soldier, or just some guy.
