Who am i?
(Post from 10.10.2025)
I am Littleclone, a 20-year-old trans woman. My transition with HRT luckily began around 11 days ago. I love low-level programming in the programming language C, and I have been interested in how computers work and how operating systems function for about six years. For around three years, it has been my dream to make my own operating system from scratch, but that’s easier said than done. It took me about one year and six months to first learn programming in C# and to truly understand it. I’ve now been learning C for about a year, and I would say I’ve already learned a lot — still, there’s much more to learn.
Do I have the knowledge to make an operating system?
Well… kinda, I would say. I’m not an expert and still have a lot to learn, but I only learn by doing, and I already have a good basic understanding of most fundamental things. Maybe you think I’m crazy for wanting to make an operating system with only basic knowledge, but what is “basic knowledge”? I know how hardware operates and how software works. Still, I have plenty to learn — an operating system is very complex — but I’m fine with that. I want to learn while I make it.
What kind of operating system do I want to make?
I want to make an operating system that makes you feel at home — that can be a home. So the name of the OS will be Astrynn OS, it has a special meaning to me. I feel like operating systems today aren’t made for the modern age and still follow old rules. I feel like most OSes are just necessary software to use my PC, but they don’t make me feel at home. Every big OS has its pros and cons, but I don’t feel at home with any of them. They aren’t user-centered in my opinion — or not enough. So why not change that?
My OS should be a place where users feel at home — a system that supports and protects you, one that’s centered around the user, not around maximizing profit or requiring complex technical knowledge. Astrynn OS should be a place for people who don’t understand a single thing about technology and for those who understand it very well — and everyone in between. I know making something like this will take a lot of time, but it’s my heart project — something I’m strongly motivated to do and to learn from while doing it.
What now?
This was my first blog post to introduce myself and my idea. I didn’t go into much detail yet — maybe I’ll write another blog post with more details about my idea. If I did, you can click [here] to get to that post.
Thank you for reading this, Littleclone
