I often wonder if people are aware they are being lead down a road of hate. I mean as someone who deals with anxiety and depression, if given the choice id want to be in a good mood all the time. The fact these people are so bitter by choice boggles my mind.

The old saying rings true, people fear what they do not understand. I have broken bread with Orthodox Jews as well as broken fast during an Iftar with Muslims and knowing and loving these peoples it always confused me how anyone could show hatred to either or to each other.

People have a difficult time leaving their comfort zone. Good luck getting them to try a new food, forget about learning about a different culture or gasp a new religion. I myself am a Roman Catholic but I have taken from each, beautiful lessons that help guide my life to this very day.

In Judaism, the ultimate mitzvah (good deed) is to do something for someone who has no way to repay you. This you take to heart when dealing with people as often times in our superficial world we look for whats in it for us rather then the deed itself being the right thing to do.

Buddhism helped me forgive my father, a man I hardly know. You see its teachings that when you are disappointed with someone, its because they did not live up to your expectations of them and to blame them for your own expectations is wrong. You should not judge others so harshly.

My own Catholic faith has taught me all things happen for a reason, and that no matter how painful the path you walk, our Lord has a lesson at the end of it that if you move throughout your life with an open heart and mind, you will learn.

I wonder at times if God put us all here with different regions, teaching each its own lessons in the hopes that one day we can teach them to each other and know him better.

I just thank God that he has given me the ability to see past those who manipulate religion for their own selfish benefits and to not judge the words so harshly.

This existence we call life happens for you, not to you, so take each moment, painful or joyful with the knowledge needed to appreciate both.

Thank you,
Dave
