Its funny, the twists and turns of life. How one day you can be on top of the world and the next overlooked by that very same world.
We as a society put so much of our self worth on superficial possessions and then we turn around and wonder why we still feel so empty. Most people have no idea what true happiness is. A sense of true fulfillment only comes from taking care of each other.
We think the newest phone, or a new car is true happiness except its fleeting and you then look to what else you can buy next. What will hold you over for just a bit longer.
I still remember the face of that elderly holocaust survivor when she told me I had kindness in my eyes. Or the look of gratefulness a simple warm meal to a homeless person holding my hand in thanks. The moment your loved one regains her senses after a month long psychosis that threatened her very life. these are the moments of happiness that will never fade, even if my perceived stature in life has.
