Black Friday and Cyber Monday – worth it?
Now that everyone is doing a Black Friday/Cyber Monday sale, should I pre-sell a lifetime deal for http://validate.page?
My original plan for pricing was something along the lines of $49/yr or $99/yr. A lifetime deal of $49 would mean at least 5x-10x value for the customer.
Advantages of pre-selling:
- validation of the idea
- accountability and ensures that I build it
- covers some hosting cost
Risks:
- If I think of selling it, having a lot of lifetime deals means a lower valuation. No acquirer would want to keep supporting old users forever.
Looks like the advantages outweigh the risks.
And the worst thing that can happen: is no one buys it.
Even if no one buys, it wouldn’t matter much, because this project is a personal itch that I am scratching.
