Switzerland can not be all that bad?
Following yesterday's posts I feel like sharing the UN's verdict on Switzerland's reports. These reports come out every couple years, the latest dating back to 2021.
Concluding observations on the combined 5th and 6th periodic reports of Switzerland : Committee on the Rights of the Child
You can find and download the report here
I share the excerpts regarding sexual violence.
Violence, including abuse, sexual exploitation and online violence
With reference to its general comment No. 13 (2011) on the right of the child to freedom from all forms of violence and targets 5.2, 16.1 and 16.2 of the Sustainable Development Goals, the Committee recommends that the State party:
( a) Develop, in close cooperation with the cantons, a federal strategy and action plan for preventing, combating and monitoring all forms of violence and abuse against children, including sexual violence, bullying and violence in the digital environment, and with a focus on children in disadvantaged situations;
( b) Strengthen coordination among cantonal authorities and child protection specialists to implement multisectoral measures for the prevention and intervention of violence against children, and adopt indicators to monitor progress achieved in the prevention of violence and in combating factors underpinning violence against children at home, in school, in alternative care settings and within a child’s circle of trust;
( c) Establish a federal mechanism, with appropriate procedures and guidelines, for ensuring the effective investigation of cases of violence in the digital environment, including sexual exploitation, cyberaggression and grooming, and the prosecution of perpetrators in all cantons;
( d) Strengthen efforts, including through increased human, technical and financial resources, to train professionals concerned to identify and adequately respond to cases of violence and child abuse, including psychological abuse, and establish reporting guidelines.Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography
Recalling its previous concluding observations, and with reference to its 2019 guidelines on the implementation of the Optional Protocol on the sale of children, child prostitution and child pornography,19 the Committee recommends that the State party:
( a) Bring its legislation into line with article 3 of the Optional Protocol, and explicitly criminalize sexual exploitation of children perpetrated through the use of information and communications technology;
( b) Adopt a comprehensive policy and strategy to implement the Optional Protocol, including measures aimed at strengthening cooperation among responsible authorities and ensuring early identification, recovery and social reintegration of child victims of sexual exploitation;
( c) Conduct a study to assess the scale of the sale of children, the sexual exploitation of children in prostitution and the use of children in pornographic performances and materials, both online and offline.
While I here only cover the aspects of sexual violence on children, I would encourage you to read the full report.
The report underlines a few important aspects about Switzerland:
- Switzerland's constitution violates the basic concepts and principles of Human Rights when it comes to children. Switzerland's legislation is not in line with human rights protocols.
- Switzerland has an issue between cantonal authorities who do not respect human rights
- Federal authorities should take matters into their hands setting up federal authorities and bodies instead of cantonal Mickey-Mousing and responsibility shedding.
- There is a lack of professional competence, and ressources, to deal with the matters in Switzerland.
- Switzerland does not know what goes on within its boarders, no real data available.
- The UN is neither happy nor impressed about Switzerland's reservations and exclusions, and non application of human rights protocols, but can't do anything about it other then write up a report.
If you wish to go through the various reports going back to when Switzerland joined, you can find them all in the UN's document's center linked above. You'll see Switzerland is a hard headed, non compromising, self indulgent nation who has no regards to international standards or criticism of non application of Human Rights.
I rest my case? No, much, much more to be posted about the banana republic money-money-money and power state.
I reiterate, this country should not be allowed to have any children within its borders given how it deals with kids as subordinates to the ego of the state and its state legion of violence-to-children perpetrators, screwing the whistleblowers.
