Prediction: YouTube, not Mastodon, will replace Twitter in 2023
This will sound crazy as YouTube is known for video content creation, but I am seeing many people posting polls, pictures, texts posts (with links) on YouTube now.
This at first was annoying me, but now I think itβs because people are seeking a reliable alternative to Twitter, & YouTube has (for better or worse) copied most of Twitterβs features now (polls, pictures, text posts with links, etcetera), including the user handle. (note: I am @Darnell on Youtube for what it is worth)
YouTubeβs already dominates virtually every demographic compared to Twitter (latter barely dominates in the 25 to 34 year old range).
I still hope Mastodon will replace Twitter (itβs as superior product!), but I can easily see Google positioning YouTube to fill the pending void.
