X (Formally Twitter) Embracing Real World Identification Verification Soon
X (formally Twitter) will soon offer real-world identification verification for the blue check-marked masses.
X keeps working on the ID verification. You should upload a photo of your ID and take a live selfie. (Via @nimaowji@twitter.com [on X](https://x.com/nimaowji/status/1691850092385370483))
According to M.C.K., X will use a third-party company called AU10TIX to verify peopleβs identification.
X is going to be using a third party identity verification service instead of doing it in house (via @HXMnCK@twitter.com on X)
Even though AU10TIX is used by hundreds of companies (especially in the financial sector) to verify real-world identities, they are not verified on X (their official account is @AU10TIXLimited@twitter.com).
Real-world identification verification thus far appears to be an optional feature for premium accounts, which will continue to add to the confusion as there will be no easy way to distinguish legit accounts from imposters as the latter can still buy a blue check mark for $8 on the monthly plan ($11 if paying through an App Store).
