In Germany, Turks Don’t Call Themselves Turks
They speak only German,
their mothers’ words left in the dust.
When asked where they’re from,
they smile and say, “Jugoslawien.”
The Bosphorus is gone from their map,
replaced by borrowed rivers.
They wear another country’s ghost
to hide their own reflection.
And they molest Kurdish people.
