There is a slight difference,
written in the genes,
between Sorani Kurds
and Iraqi Kurds.
Yet even in Iraqî Kurdistan,
the tongue is Sorani,
flowing through Erbil,
Suleimani, Halabja.
But not all speak Sorani —
some are Kurmanjî Kurds,
their words climbing the mountains,
their voice older than borders.
Borders may divide,
but languages run the same:
Sorani in the cities,
Kurmanjî in the hills,
all Kurds still one people.
