Turkish thread with Kurdish wool—
the strands are born
from different looms,
set far apart in the warp of time.
No mountain marries a plain,
no river becomes another’s sea.
Call it what you will,
but the cloth will not lie:
Turkish is Turkish,
Kurdish is Kurdish,
and the roots do not mix.
