The musings of an unlikely composer

Nobody will say I didn't

Florence Foster Jenkins, famously among the worst opera singers of all time, wouldn’t admittedly have been able to do what she did if she’d been poor. Not back then anyway. These days it seems anyone connected can put themselves out there, which is not without its risks.

FFJ even so is quoted as saying, “People may say I can’t sing. But nobody could ever say I didn’t sing.”

In my case I can’t carry a tune in a bucket. People have even tried to teach me to sing – including an opera singer, composer, orchestral conductor and painter (all the same person) and if she couldn’t, I suspect nobody can.

Writing music is another matter however.
