some of my thoughts and notes

Ego at Work

I don't like when people are involved in their work with their ego.
Probably I am as well, but it's easier to see in other people.

If someone wants to know about my work, I can explain everything they want to know, I can show them images and videos, but writing a report just so that someone can be impressed with how much we accomplished? Sorry, not interested.

I don't want to pretend to be more confident than I actually am, just to be heard. Switching the word “Hypothesis” for “Principle” may give it more power, but it also doesn't name it for what it is!

I don't want to include every bit of my work in my report, just to show how far I've come. I don't want to include every bit of insight just to show how important all of it is. I want to work and let the work speak for itself. (Maybe.. that's the idea behind a report?)

I don't want to include everyone's contribution just to make their contribution seen by everyone else if it doesn't support the main point I'm trying to make.

But that's what it all seems to be about, to find a justification for the work we're doing. “Good, at least we got a few more hours logged.”

Yes! Nice! We're getting paid. But NO! If we only logged hours but didn't get anything done, that's still a waste of my time!
