some of my thoughts and notes

Love for Friends 2

I am currently in the flat of an old friend in Freiburg. It is not the same flat as two years ago and she broke up with her boyfriend and has a girlfriend now, but between us, not much has changed.

After catching up on Saturday we enjoyed an amazingly relaxed Sunday. I read the last three chapters of Sam Harris' book “Waking Up” that I found in her bookshelf, helped her bake a cake and cook Lasagne for her work today.

At the end of the day, another friend of her came over and joined us. I was a bit shocked when he suggested to share the whole Lasagne between the three of us, even though my friend had stated that she wanted to take a piece to work the next day. I only ate one piece so that one was still left.

I was also impressed by his bad luck with his Mercedes Sprinter. He had bought it for 15.000€ with only 85.000 km and when the tensioner of the steering chain failed, he wasn't willing to check where that sound came from. When the engine stopped at one point, a workshop told him it was the battery and he continued driving, even though he knew it could not have been the battery! Soon later, the engine started to make a grinding noise and stopped. Most likely, the steering chain slipped, offsetting the timing of the engine valves and possibly allowing them to collide with the pistons. Possibly he destroyed his engine. I don't envy him.

After dinner we went to the Sauna together. I really enjoyed it. I felt super warm. Sauna is nice. We stayed past the opening hours but the guy working at the checkout was still amazingly friendly to us.

After returning, I offered her a back massage but she only wanted to cuddle, which I also appreciated.
