Mouse battery empty
Cursor doesn't move.
Ok. Batteries... AA, 1.5 V.
I have halve an eight-pack of AAA batteries in the third drawer
and five of an eight-pack of AAA batteries in the fourth drawer.
I take out the batteries from the mouse with the plastic strap
and wipe the batteries' contacts with my shirt.
I put the batteries back in,
Voilà.
Update 08.03.2020:
Still going strong. I had not expected it to go another four days. Especially the fact that not even the green battery warning light on top is giving any sign amazes me. Maybe the batteries still have a long and happy life before them.
Update 25.04.2020:
Suddenly the cursor stopped moving.
Used the touchpad instead for the rest of the day.
Then decided to wipe the battery contacts again.
It works. Let's see for how long.
Update 25.05.2020:
It's still working after continuing daily use.
I'm glad I don't have a big audience because otherwise I'd be afraid the battery industry might execute me for writing this.
