Paradox of Love
I think in large parts of our western society, love is still confused with attachment.
The idea that even when my long-term partner dies I could still be as joyful as before seems strange at first even to me, as if this could not be true love.
But I think the opposite is the case. To be able to truly love someone, one must be able to love oneself, to be joyful regardless of circumstances, and therefore be able to give the maximum of freedom to one's partner.
