some of my thoughts and notes

Red and Blue

I had a long conversation about the political situation of Norway and the world today. I am not going to bother to summarize it all, but I'm going to try to do it in short.

Basically, the Norwegian Arbeiderpartiet, the labourers party, has done the exact same as in Germany: they used their good reputation to benefit those that started the party and rose with it and neglected the poor.

Funny laws have been passed in Norway. For example, you can save your tax for up to five years before you pay them. If you then happen to go to another country, like Switzerland, for five years, your tax debt is annulled. Crazy, right?

On the other hand, more and more people are essentially starving in poverty.
Nav, the institution that is supposed to take care of them, is increasingly under attack. Some people have gotten so angry at certain Nav employees that they stabbed them in their office. The reaction: more glass walls in Nav offices. Right...

And the crazy thing is: people keep voting for the same party that has created this nonsense. And it's the same in Germany. People keep voting for the same people who rode the carriage into the mud. How are these people going to solve the problems they created? Hard to say.

But I feel pretty certain that the division of people into “us” and “them” into “you” and “me” can only come to an end through a sufficient amount of suffering or through sufficient contentment. And right now it seems like we're going straight downhill.

I feel very sorry for this, but my instinct tells me to flee. I will go wherever I feel safe and can continue my inner journey, and wherever I can be helpful to others.
