A year ago already I had read a book titled “Fasten heilt Karies” which talks about the misconceptions about modern dental medicines and the real causes of caries and paradontosis. Mainly it's sugar and our modern food.
Even though I have a little chronic inflammation of the gum at one of my teeth that hurts a bit from time to time, I didn't give it any more attention.
When I was in Spain in August and September eating more sugar than usual the pain came back. Then, while spending three days in the small mountain village of Matavenero, I almost didn't eat any industrial sugar.
In fact, I almost didn't eat anything because I quickly burned through my reserves and also didn't want to ask anyone there for food. For one day I only ate berries from the bushes in and around the village. It was okay.
And the pain in my teeth was gone! I noticed it but didn't spend a second thought on this phenomenon.
Now, being in Norway, I realized that having healthy teeth is really important for me, especially for my future. So I decided to give that some more attention.
First of all I closely examined my teeth in the mirror. On the front teeth I found some stains that would not go away with a brush, but with my nails and some pressure I was able to scratch them away. First success!
The brown spot on one sidewards tooth also turned out to be removable with my nails! But it hurt to push in there!
So I read the book again and found out more about the danger of paradontosis. The solution lies not in dental medicine but in a more natural nutrition and in occasional fasting!
So today I decided to eat nothing at least during all of the day. I drove 15 km on the bike with headwind, watched my colleagues eat lunch and was still in a good mood in the afternoon. Even the way back home was not that difficult. Apparently the body has quite good energy reserves.
And I could also already feel my teeth getting better. Only at some point during the evening I started eating some raw vegetables while cooking my lunch for tomorrow. It tasted amazing!
