Why I like The Slow Rush
Listen to On Track for example.
When I listen to a song I often not only feel its vibe and comprehend its lyrics in that moment, I also start to perceive that feeling in my everyday life. This song puts me exactly in the place where I am in my life right now. Strictly speaking, I'm still on track. All of my dreams are still in sight. Strictly speaking, I've got my whole life.
Listening to Life on Mars by Dexter Wansel right now.
Now listening to One More Hour.
Imagine me sitting right in between my speakers, at 3:30 in the morning. The sound is crystal clear and crisp. Then the bass hits again. Loud. The drums, the warping effects.
On the very contrary, I remember that more than a year ago I used to listen to The Dø and while the music is beautiful and enjoyable, it had a strong influence on me. Especially their song A Mess Like This left me sort of stranded in my life. It's easy to find songs that match your current mood but it's also easy to match your mood to the songs you're listening to.
It's also easy to project the content of songs to your own life. Be careful with that. Choose wisely. That's why I like The Slow Rush. Currents both mirrored and influenced my feeling in 2015, and so does this new album.
