Triangle
Triangles are powerful. In construction they are used to create strength. In mathematics they are used to calculate Pi or the area of a circle. In relationships, they are used to build tension and gain power.
Especially when one connection in a triangle is weaker or not fully defined, the whole triangle loses strength.
It is a bit of a pity that we haven't managed to create a more equilateral triangle. I imagine that it could be a building block for a whole latticework that can give stability and support. But we created a triangle where two points are only very weakly connected and it's very easy for them to feel like they're competing because they're almost on two opposite ends of the triangle.
However, I still highly respect the opposite point of the triangle. First, because the triangle wouldn't exist without it, but second because it allows me to be part of its structure without distrusting or disrespecting me.
Still, I always thought of the one line from the Steely Dan song Babylon Sisters as fundamentally true:
And that love's not a game for three
Now I think that I'm not like Walter Becker & Donald Fagen, and I'm not like a character in their lyrics either. And maybe then love is not a game for three, but also not a game for two, but a game for the world. Maybe I will never make music that's as polished as theirs, but hopefully I'll lead a happier life and also leave a good influence on the world.
