Žižek
Two weeks ago I learned that Slavoj Žižek and Jordan Peterson had a grand debate in Toronto last year. I wondered in which ways they would disagree and in the evening immediately searched the web to find a recording of the debate.
They actually do not disagree as much on their fundamental values, but they come into the debate from very different backgrounds and with very different temperaments which makes this debate, by some dubbed “The Debate of the Century” so exciting.
The topic: “Happiness: Capitalism vs. Marxism”
Today, I discovered an interview with Žižek on the Swiss television channel SRF. It's funny because the interviewer speaks a funny kind of German and Žižek mostly answers in English. The good thing however is that every German bit is subtitled in English.
Žižek here talks about a lot of things – ideology, the movies “Nada”, “Matrix”, “Fight Club”, the pain of freedom (“real freedom is something very painful, it hurts”), the catastrophy of love, Eurocentrism, human rights, music, his own calling and in the end even his own impostor syndrome.
