I could be going back to using pen and paper
I've recently dug out a few of my old fountain pens after years of not using them. Spent time cleaning and flushing them, then filling two of them with the one ink I have at hand right now, Diamine Autumn Oak. The ink is fitting for the time of year before the snow comes back.
While I was testing the pens to ensure that they work and the ink flows properly, I kept asking myself why on earth I ever stopped using them. I love the feeling of writing with a fountain pen, so was I just being lazy? Was it way more convenient to use my old iPad to take notes for work? Sadly I'd have to say yes to both questions. That, and what I feel is my lack of creativity and imagination. What good is pen and paper if you have nothing of substance to write?
When I first got into fountain pens I developed a small obsession. I don't remember how many pens I ended up buying, there were a fair few ranging from a few bucks to “at least I don't have to sell a kidney to afford it”. Coming back into using pens again I don't feel the same need to expand my collection as I once did. Right now, at least.
Yesterday was a general high anxiety day for no apparent reason. I attempted to distract myself by watching videos about notebooks, and ended up buying a Wanderings Leather Travel Journal. Retail therapy? You bet! And then I came back to Write.as again for the umpteenth time.
I'm hoping that a good journal and my fountain pens will get me into a writing mood again.
