I omitted things like Bear, Ulysses, Wordsmith, Evernote, and Writemator – Because they are a different category entirely and my brain does not enjoy that type of application workflow...

In general they are “too pretty,” and “too symbolic,” ultimately too hard to be efficient with, which is ultimately extremely frustrating, and counter-productive.

Runner up: “Mettle.” It would be a half-way point, between symbolic and power user type interfaces and workflow, but it gets disqualified because I managed to crash it three times in under an hour. With semi-total data loss.
