My Goals For My IT Career

Well, I got enough knowledge needed to start my career as a IT 'professional'. That said, I'm not confident in my ability to compete in this current state of the tech industry, at least not the mainstream or traditional one. We've been seeing all the outrageous shit such as the mass layoffs, workplace discrimination, overworking, the horrendous hiring practices, and the 'AI' boom.

So what can I do? Well, since I've been learning about the social aspects of technology like social engineering in regards to cyberattacks and the adverse mental health effects of social media, I thought: maybe I should learn both technical and social/psychological knowledge. After all, the one thing tech bros are known to be terrible at are empathy and humanities knowledge (and just common sense in general).

I think learning about people and the world we live in seem to be very underrated or outright devalued for a lot of folks who work in mainstream tech, for obvious reasons. However, I've been seeing many tech professionals in the fediverse who actually care about humanity, and have unique hobbies of their own. That is really beautiful to see.

Let us kind and diverse tech nerds make the world a better place! :)
