The Old Lady

I had a dream about a year ago which I still find to be quite striking.

Some tragedy had happened to a family in which I was a fly on the wall, so to speak, a witness to the dreary scene. Everyone was huddled around and sobbing in the family living room. The husband snapped and started yelling at everyone. Oddly, he stops and points his finger at empty space and yells something like,

And you what about you? You did nothing!

Out of nowhere this woman materializes. She's old with a face of worn leather. She looked European with long, wavy, unkempt and greying hair. Her eyes were of a spell-binding glacier blue hue. Those eyes had a timeless depth to them and overrode her homeless appearance.

She then spoke,

I wonder what would befall you if I were to remove my watchful gaze? Do NOT put your cart before the horse.

The last statement rang in my mind like a bell and I woke up.
