Cyberpunk: Edgerunners

It has all the elements of a great story: the eternal fight between good and evil, a boy meeting a girl, and all that placed in a dystopian techno future with a clan of dissident cyberpunks.

Short and sweet. One season, 10 episodes, a great final.

Don't know why, but I'm really excited by finding this series in Netflix. I binged, but it was well worth it.

Even the soundtrack is amazing.

It was hilarious that the boy's name is “David Martínez”. Even though that name is in Spanish, it is not a Spanish name. Do you know how many David Martínez I know? hahaha. I guess that adds an underdoggy touch to the character.

If you are planning to watch the series—and I don't see a reason why you wouldn't— please, beware of spoilers in YouTube's comments.

Here is the trailer:

Perhaps I'm a fan of cyberpunk stories because I see a version of such a dystopian future entirely possible. In a previous life, I had the opportunity to have some “insider” information about how advanced is the military technology developed by some wealthy countries. It.is.scary.

If these countries part take in a kinetic world war—not an impossibility given the current times—we are in serious troubles.

But, I see more a more evidence of governments using all these technologies against their own people. What's sadder, people are unaware of that or don't want to believe it. Thus, dystopian techno future with massive surveillance and totalitarian population control ... yeah, entirely possible.

Oh! I forgot to mention the other elements of a great story: death, blood, violence, sex.
