Real Estate Twitter – First Impressions
Where are all the real estate entrepreneurs?
That's what I wondered after browsing Bigger Pockets and these other online communities and finding mostly single family home investors.
However, inspired by Nick Huber, I downloaded Twitter. And there they were.
I started to follow some of the faces of Real Estate twitter, aka #REtwit: Nick Huber, Chris Powers, and Keith Wasserman. Commented on some posts, liked a bunch of tweets, and saw the hottest trending topics (short term rentals) in the community.
Here are my initial observations:
These guys post A LOT. And that makes sense, since everybody posts a lot. Tweets from yesterday are old news and hard to find.
They respond to most comments. I guess this makes sense given they are sharing the starting info in the tweet, but I always thought of these 8-figure guys with thousands of followers as inaccessible.
It's hard to find good blogs but easy to find good twitter accounts. Their recommendations for who to follow are great, but I wish it'd show me some smaller accounts as well.
Some people choose to stay private (e.g. @RealEstateSimpleton). I was surprised at first since almost every business YouTuber is not anonymous, but then thought about Reddit and blogs where a good number of people are. I respect each side and knowing their name wouldn't make much a difference to me.
Twitter's lists are useful but seem hard to manage and remember to constantly check them.
In the meantime, I'll follow more people. Eventually I'll comment and ask questions, and even tweet some myself! Except I have no experience to talk about, so I'll have to get creative or get experience.
