Under Constant Construction as is My Soul

Name above all Names

John 17:26 (NASB95)

“and I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

The Word of God reveals that the name of Jesus is no ordinary name. It is the name above every name — the name the Father Himself gave.

You cannot give what you do not possess. But if you own it, you can give it freely. And God gave Jesus a name that belongs to Him — a name (above all names) before which every knee in heaven, on earth, and under the earth will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father (Philippians 2:9–11).

That name is power.

In John 17, Jesus is praying for His disciples, setting them apart — sanctifying them — in the name of God. Then in verse 26, He says, “I have made Your name known to them, and will make it known…” Why?

“…so that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”

The name of Jesus is not just an identifier — it’s the doorway. It’s the key that unlocks the gate of the Kingdom. Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life; no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). And Romans 5:5 tells us that the love of God is poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Put it all together:

The name of Jesus is truly the Name above all names — heaven’s key, earth’s hope, and hell’s undoing.
