Sunday's Message
What if I told you Sunday’s message could rip the skin off your soul? What if I told you it could transform you? Not because I’m some smooth-tongued preacher with a velvet voice—but because I’ve been digging, word for word, line by line, precept upon precept, straight out of my Bible. No filters. No fluff. Just raw Scripture.
Topical sermons? Yeah, I get it. They’re neat packages—pick a topic, grab a bunch of Bible verses, preach it clean. That’s a topical sermon: preacher picks a theme, then cherry-picks Scripture to build a case. Nothing wrong with it—until it gets twisted. And twist it does. A little bend here, a sharp turn there, and suddenly you’re preaching man’s agenda instead of God’s Word.
But expository? That’s where the rubber meets the road. You open half a chapter, march through it line by bloody line, and suddenly you see the Truth staring back at you like a knife in the dark.
And Jesus—He knew this better than anyone. He looked straight into the eyes of men who wanted Him dead. Religious men. Men who believed in Yahweh. Men with the Torah on their lips and murder in their hearts. Imagine that—men who thought they were defending God by plotting to kill His Son.
John 5:18—
They wanted Him dead because He broke their Sabbath. Worse, He called God His Father, making Himself equal with God. That drove them insane. They clutched their scrolls, they clenched their fists, and they missed the Messiah standing right in front of them.
John 5:34—
“But these things I say, that ye might be saved.”
Did you catch that? They’re sharpening their knives, but Jesus is still trying to save them. Still reaching for their souls while they’re intending to slit His throat. That’s Christ. Even while bleeding, even while mocked, even while nailed to the Cross—He whispers: “Father, forgive them.”
John 5:39—
“Search the Scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life… and they are they which testify of Me.”
Do you feel that? He’s saying: You read your Bibles every day thinking they’ll save you. But those very words are screaming My Name. And I’m standing right in front of you and you don’t even see it. And I’m wondering how many ‘Christians’ are reading Scripture daily but are missing Jesus just like those ‘Scripture searchers’ in John chapter 5 missed Him.
This Sunday, we’re tearing into John 5. We’ll strip it bare. We’ll see how Baptists, Catholics, Pentecostals—all of us—read Scripture and twist it to prop up our brand, our tribe, our ego. But Scripture wasn’t given for an ego boost. It wasn’t given to prove we’re right like those intending to kill Jesus searched Scripture to prove that they were right. It was given to wash us clean. To break us. To transform us.
So here’s the deal:
Don’t come Sunday looking for validation. Don’t come looking for a pat on the back. Come to be cut open. Come to be washed. Come to be transformed.
Because this Sunday’s message could change your life.
Even better—this Sunday’s message could shatter your life… and build you into something new.
