2024. You Came. I Saw. We Happened.
While a year-end reflection can be fairly cliché, it reinforces the notion that we can recognize all that has taken place, acknowledge who we are as a result, and to embrace that what has happened is not reflective of what will happen again.
Over this past year:
- I continued my journey with the City of Vancouver in Technology Services, helping empower City employees through learning. It was also in this role that I celebrated my first ever “exceeds expectations” performance review. Yay! 🎉
- And maybe related to this, my Temporary Fulltime contract was extended through to May of 2025. Yay! 🎉
- I kicked things off here with #ChrisQuestions, though as with many things I start, distraction got the... SQUIRREL! 🐿️
- Restarted my #100DaysOfCode journey in the world of #Python. And a third of the way through... SQUIRREL! 🐿️
- Found myself back into the world of coaching youth sports – something I've not done for close to a decade or two. Thankfully my daughter has embraced that Daddy & Coach Chris both exist and want her to succeed. ⚽
- Kicked off the TWELFTH season hosting my #Canucks podcast. Had you asked me back in 2013 if I'd still be doing it over a decade later, I likely would have laughed at you.
Upon reflection, much has likely been missed in this short list. If and when I do remember, I will acknowledge the memory before refocussing on what is in front of me.
2025 is a year full of plans. Many will start, some will finish, and a vast number could change. It's a year that excites me. It's a year that will challenge me. And it could be a year that frightens me. Yet I embrace that it too will happen and face it with a smile. 😄
