The Pyjama Party 🪩

From Saturday to Sunday, my older daughter (7) and 10 other children (only 2 of them boys) had a pyjama party at our house.

We had decorated all the rooms beautifully, including the garage, where a lot of the action took place. The party started in the garage with the general arrival and unwrapping of presents. Afterwards, the children were allowed into the living room, where they could make their own pizza.

While the pizza was in the oven, I played pantomime with the children, which they really enjoyed.

Then we ate the pizza and when we had finished, the children were allowed to paint cushion covers. I had already tested this the day before, which was great fun for me. The children had just as much fun, so they really enjoyed this item on the agenda. The covers were then ironed, a pillow was put inside and the children were able to sleep with them later and take them home the following day.

After painting the cushions, we moved from the garage to the living area. There we had already set everything up for a disco. We did a stop dance, which again led to a lot of hilarity. Afterwards, we watched two short films from Pixar together.

The children then set up their beds in the living area, I read them another story and suddenly it was 11 o'clock at night. There was still whispering for up to an hour before everyone finally went to sleep.

The morning started at around 7 o'clock. I got a few more rolls from the bakery, we also baked croissants and prepared a lot of things. Breakfast took place in the garage again.

The children were picked up at around 9 o'clock. Until then, we did spin the bottle, which went down extremely well. And so the round of spin the bottle got smaller and smaller as one child after the other was picked up, until in the end there were only my two children left.

The rest of Sunday was spent clearing up the mess, tidying up and rearranging again. In other words, making up for all the hours spent on Saturday.

My two daughters, especially my big one, for whom we organized the party, loved it.

For me and my wife, of course, it was pure stress, although I actually had some fun.

Learning: You have to constantly manage a group of 11 children. There are always “troublemakers” in the group. And as soon as you let them run free, chaos is inevitable. So we set the tone almost all the time, so that the chaos only ever lasted a few minutes.
