Observing city life in Singapore
Today I saw:
- a long line of people, queuing for a mandatory Covid test, with luggage and all – a signboard has sprung up along this procession, saying “Royal Caribbean”, so presumably they are heading to a cruise ship that sails under that name, straight after the test
- a heterosexual couple in Western attire, the bride getting hair and make-up done – presumably taking photos for their wedding
- mothers and their young children, at a newly opened public library. “I want animals!” cries a little child, grabbing related books off the shelves
- a shop bereft of its middle-aged shop-keeper, whom I would later discover is wrestling with an affliction of his eyes
