poem
Yesterday the wind came
And pushed some trees over
Humans – hairless apes, really -
Pointed and stared
The next day
A shapely young woman came
And young humans – hairless apes, really -
Pointed and stared
In the evening
A movie came to a cinema
And, under the loud screen, a couple kissed
And his penis pointed and stabbed
If this sexual flower can still blossom,
in the ruins of wine-red war,
purple plague and
black drought
Then surely the sun will outlive -
outshine! outlast! outpour! -
The sun will still bake the earth, long after
The final hairless ape
Crumbles back into dusty earth
Lord, have mercy
Christ, have mercy
Lord, have mercy
