I hope you are enjoying the Fall where you are.

POTUS has decreed, along with the Israelis, that the folks in Gaza MUST accept their decrees to end the war or else. Netanyahu is threatening to wipe Gaza of its current inhabitants. Apparently POTUS thinks that he can dictate a peace. No need to actually deal with both sides. Both sides have grievances that must be attended to.

While I believe that the war against Israel was a disastrous act and should never have happened, killing civilians or hostages is not the answer. The Israelis and the Palestinians were given a two state solution nearly 80 years ago. The Israelis were to be given land after the terrible acts of the Nazis. Unfortunately, the land would be taken from the Palestinians, without their being given compensation. A theft approved by the British Balfour Declaration. This act alone appears to be responsible for the desire of the Palestinians to return to their homes. But, what was done 80 years ago can not be undone now.

This theft is very similar to what the Nazis did to the Jewish population in the 1930's. One group cannot be given the land of a third party in an attempt to restore to them what was take by someone else. Everyone know the acts of the Nazis toward their Jewish populations were unspeakable but cannot be corrected by giving them the land of other people.

After nearly 80 years, is there any possible solution to this situation? Perhaps POTUS can arrange some type of compensation for the land taken from one side and given to the other. I am not sure. The bitterness both sides feel for each other may never be assuaged. The Palestinians should be given compensation and the Israelis a guarantee that there will be peace. I know that this simplistic suggestion will not ease all the hurt but someone must do something. This simmering war cannot be allowed to continue. The only sure thing in all of this is that POTUS is not the individual to do this. He does not have the sympathy for both sides which is what is needed. He is only interested in his own aggrandizement. Nobel Peace Prize, NEVER!
