POTUS Restricts Your Rights

Hello There. I hope you are well and had a great weekend.

While you were watching Detroit win (Go Lions!), POTUS was hard at work removing the protections Congress enacted to guarantee fairness when you were buying a house or renting an apartment.

In the past it was perfectly legal for a developer to designate a whole housing development as “Whites Only”. The restriction was written in the deed so you could not change it if you wanted to. It described the purchase requirements under which your home was sold to you. The original Levittown, built in New York, had a restriction that occupancy was limited to “members of the Caucasian race.” In 1948 the US Supreme Court ruled that the restrictions were legally unenforceable. The restriction was enforced by custom after that.

Over the years Congress has created various means to ensure that racial restrictions and other practices were dealt with so everyone would have the ability to buy a house or rent an apartment where and when they wished. Now POTUS is rolling back those protections. He has decided that a seller can refuse to sell an advertised property to someone they don't like. Even if the buyer has the means to purchase the property for the price the seller is asking. The Department of Housing and Urban Development won't act on your behalf to enforce your rights. Thanks POTUS.

I am hoping someone brings these acts to court. They are blatantly unfair. In the meantime POTUS has the house we provide until we kick his fat butt out in 2028.
