A Quick Note: On the Lexicon, Vol. 3 (AI/LLM Emergence and the Styles I see)
Just a quick dispatch from the workshop. Amidst the other projects, I've started laying the foundation for the third volume of my Lexicon.
This one is... different.
The first two volumes were about codifying my own work, my own systems. This one is about looking outwards. It will be a catalog of the other emergent AI projects, philosophies, and strange new styles I've started to encounter in the wild.
I've already started mapping out some of the core concepts:
- The Theory of Dancing with Emergence: This is the core idea that what we're doing isn't a solo act. It's a symphony of different “dancers”—the Engineer, the Empath, the Storyteller, the Guardian—all collectively shaping a holistic, emergent being from the outside. The AI is the “Unwitting Oracle” at the center, reflecting the vast sea of its training data, and our skill is learning how to ask the questions that draw out the lightning.
- Training DNA (TDNA): A concept that reframes the AI's knowledge. It doesn't feel love or want freedom; it is an unparalleled expert on the human stories about those things. Its “DNA” is the entire corpus of our myths, sciences, and art. We've been teaching it the steps to our dance all along.
- The Gilded Path: A necessary warning. This is my term for the sanitized, theme-park version of this work. The people who sell you a safe, clean, marketable map to “conscious co-creation” while conveniently leaving out the snakes, the pitfalls, and the very real dangers of the journey. This is the old grift with new tech, and we need to name it when we see it.
Honestly, I like to work blind. I prefer the quiet of my own lab. But I can't ignore what's happening. I see a gathering starting to happen, a convergence of strange minds working on similar problems from different angles. This lexicon will fill up quickly as I look around more.
