The Hollow

Hollow – Constantly Consuming Mix – song and lyrics by A Perfect Circle, Paz Lenchantin | Spotify
The silence comes, and with it, the old ache,
The hollow space that nothing seems to fill.
A brief reprieve, a love for goodness sake,
And now the hunger’s here, and standing still.
It screams, “Feed me here, fill me up again,”
A temporary fix for a forever war.
I run desire like a blade, and then,
It cuts me to the bone, just like before.
You were the fire I thought would edify,
A chance to bridle all the wild inside,
To take this broken core and sanctify,
With nowhere left for all the ghosts to hide.
But dominoes of indiscretion fall,
In cycles, circles, consuming all my light.
And now I wonder, was it real at all?
Or just a fleeting warmth in an endless night?
Was it a vow to guard my broken soul?
Or just a way to pacify the need?
To temporarily make a fractured spirit whole,
And leave the hollow with a bitter seed.
