Right now there is a bit of an exodus from Twitter. Idanoo has upgraded the hardware that mastodon.nz runs on a couple of times now due to the influx of people, which is great.
I hope that a project we convinced him to spin up doesn’t become too much of a burden or expense for him – if people stick around I think it will need to become something like Fosstodon with donations helping cover the costs.
I guess in the next few weeks we’ll see how necessary that is… it certainly is great that people are finding homes all over the fediverse. Real people in real conversation 😊
