Rahotu Beach

I was driving around the west coast of Taranaki today for work, stopping at various sites to service their equipment. I happened to be driving through Rahotu when I saw a sign saying “Surf Beach” right on my morning break time, so turned off and drove the 3km towards the ocean. Stopped at the carpark – and saw that I had a walk ahead of me. I was in work overalls and steel-cap work boots, and couldn't be bothered removing them. So started walking. Guess I got a good workout hah.

Ther are a few signs along the walk to the beach. Seems the local school is behind some conservation effort, which is awesome.

I didn’t see any, but I was aware to stick to the beaten path. I walked to the last dune, and took a look around. It was… not silent – the sound of the waves crashing on the beach was pretty soothing though.
Took a quick panorama with my phone (no camera with me today) then headed back to my work vehicle and carried on with my day.
