So some people got angry because they empathized with the boy and thought the girl was extremely hostile when he showed interest. Which is why they deserve to get zero in literature.
When did he show interest? At all?
When he said “lol, first text back at 1 AM? I like your style.”, there are two interpretations.
- It’s a simple observation with no hidden meaning. Then he is stupid. He can just say “you wake up at 7 AM” and it would be the same. Except “lol” next to it is a comment on the casual habit of a stranger. Which makes him even stupider.
- It is an implication that she shows interest and he likes that she shows it. Many people think this is a case and consider it a good thing. Well, good for him. Not for her. He didn’t show any vulnerability or his own thinking about her. He risks nothing in here. Risking would be like “Thanks for texting back quickly.” or “I like your hair.” he transferred the risk of rejection to her by putting her in this position of showing her interest to him first. Then, and only then, he approved her enthusiasm with “I like your style”.
At best you have a clueless boy with no conversation skills in your relationship. But it’s more likely that you get a narcissistic boy who thinks he has the upper hand in the relationship.
