Among Good People

Today, life is chaos
mad, wild, out of control
a raging river
on which I’m trapped

But being here, now
with all of you
is a port of safety
a grounding feeling

It’s time to catch my breath
to rest and recover
sitting quietly
among good people

I’m glad I took time
to come out and see you
Now I can leave with a little more light
to take on this wild life
