Don’t Forget Your Shine

There are people in this world
who will flash a big, kind smile
while at the same time
they hold a knife behind their back

They’ll stab you when you look away
spreading their hate and poison
bringing you to your knees
making you forget your shine

But I can still see it
the kindness in your heart
the warmth, the love
that you share with everyone

Take your time getting up
Do your best to keep smiling
And whatever you do
don’t forget your shine
