I’m sorry if what I said didn’t make sense
or even if you might’ve taken offense
I’m sorry if I assumed incorrectly
or if you think I tried to hurt you directly
I’m sorry I can’t be what you want me to be
But I’m not sorry for being me

I’m sorry if I don’t meet your expectations
or if I took my life in a different direction
I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you the whole truth
I was scared because I didn’t know what you’d do
I’m sorry I’m not everything you wanted me to be
But I’m not sorry for being me

I’m sorry if I forgot something
or if you thought I was misbehaving
I’m sorry if I didn’t understand
or if I didn’t listen to your plan
I’m sorry I’m not exactly how you wanted me to be
But I’m not sorry for being me

I know I can never be perfect
But I know now that it’s not worth it
To keep trying to be something I’m not
I only said sorry because I forgot
That I’m never going to be everything you wanted of me
But I’m not sorry for being me

I will never be sorry for being me
