Starlight

I’m drifting all alone
Trying desperately to atone
for all the horrible things I’ve done
Wishing for life to be fun
But I’ve made too many mistakes
So I put on smiles, all fakes
Because forgiveness can’t be found
After everything I’ve done, sleep isn’t sound
But if I look through all the darkness
I know somewhere, I will find forgiveness
Cos even though I am not perfect
I know in my heart that I am worth it

I am starlight
beautiful and bright
sparkling, glistening
and always listening
to the whispers of my heart
so one day I can start
to hold my head up high
No, I’m not gonna cry
I’m gonna stand tall
and face it all

Although every day feels like a mistake
and it gets too hard to take
Though you carry sins for which you can’t atone
You don’t have to carry your burden alone
Take my hand and then you’ll see
That we can start a new chapter of this story
One full of love and hope and light
Where you never have to stand alone against a plight
If we look past all the darkness
Together, we can find forgiveness
Cos even though we are not perfect
I know in my heart that we are worth it

We are starlight
beautiful and bright
glowing, glistening
we’ll keep on listening
to the songs of our souls
as we reach for our goals
We’ll hold our heads high
No more tears, no more cries
We will stand tall
and together, we will face it all

Because we are beautiful; we are bright
We are starlight
