There’s More to Love
I never understood
though people always told me I should
automatically know how love works
Don’t be different, hide my quirks
That’s what they all told me
And if I did that, then maybe
I would receive the ultimate goal
Someone would come along and complete my soul
But now I see that they were wrong
There’s more than one way to sing that song
Love isn’t just another prize
It has more than one shape and size
It can be for friends, it can be for family
And there’s plenty of it for you and me
It isn’t something to guard or hoard
Or be hidden away on a shelf and stored
Love is meant to blossom and grow
Now I see that there’s more to love than I
could’ve known
I’ll take my love and share it
There’s no need to compare it
I can love as many people as I want to
Old love doesn’t have to stop the new
How I express my love is my choice
As long as I respect my loved one’s voice
To the people that are too blind to see
Leave me alone, let me be me
The more you try to silence us, the louder we’ll say
That love doesn’t have to work just one way
This love I have is beautiful
sparkling, radiant, and magical
It’s mushy and friendly, safe and warm
Even if it’s different from the norm
Love doesn’t need “marry me” or “I do”
It can be for many people, it’s true
I’ll cherish my love as I grow
Cos there’s always more to love than any of us
could’ve known
