Why You Should Care
It's easy to look at suffering
And say “It's not my problem”
Because it's safer
not to get involved
It's easy to look at the success in your life
and say “It's easy. I did it, so you can too.”
Without considering how hard it is
for someone not like you
“We should judge them solely on their merits”
That's a good practice to employ
But the rest of the world didn't,
ensuring that they will never reach you
“You aren't the only one with problems”
True, but theirs have been there for hundreds of years
and people like them are killed
because people like us do nothing
It's not us against them
We all share the same blue sky
We all breathe the same air
We all stand under the same sun
It's all of us together
Walking arm in arm
Our friends need us right now
And that's why you should care
