The Poet Sky

My world is falling apart
Crashing down around me
as life throws
one blow after another at me

Life knocks me down
and only moments after I recover
another blow comes my way
to tear my world asunder

There is no light anywhere
Every small flicker has been snuffed out
Forcing me to turn my back on those that are left
because I will lose them too, I have no doubt

The darkness is so tempting
calling me to let my life unwind
it’d be so much easier to rest
and leave all this misery behind

But I’ve worked too hard
on my constant struggle to grow
to be better than I am
to be someone I can be proud to show

I will find the strength to go on
I am not going to quit
I will find my own light, my own hope
Because I am worth it
